The main Shingle beach at Lyme is too busy with swimmers during the daytime through the summer, but after dark Bass, Dogfish, Pout, Eels, Rockling, the odd Ray, and Sole can all be targeted from here. Winter time there are really only Whiting, Pout, Dogfish and Rockling to be caught here. The middle of this beach (in front of the Bay hotel) is a ledge known locally as “Lucy’s Ledge”, fishing either side of this ledge seems to be most productive. Towards the Eastern end of the Beach it gets a bit more snaggy, but can produce some good sized Ballan Wrasse.
From April until early July Plaice will move in to feed on the clean ground here between the ledges.
